Yellow-billed Magpie

I've been trying for a repeat of the magpie's green tail all week. No luck.
First try, I went to a place two hours drive away, where I knew magpies were reliable (or at least they were last year about this time). No dice. The place has become a housing tract :-(
Second try, I found a tree with a magpie sitting calmly. Take my truck up near it, take out the lens and the bean bag, aim at the bird, and the bird hides in the foliage. A second later I discover why - a guy trying to sell me PC repair comes up to my door and says "What you shooting - I sell...".
Third try, Bill and I find this wonderful bird, line up the truck with the bird, I aim my lens on it and a lady comes rushing out of the country house attached to this fence, bangs open her screen door, glares at us and yells "Can I help you?" I got two shots and moved on..
As Arthur Morris says, "You gotta' love it". Or as the buddhists say, "Suffering arises from want - to cease suffering, cease want". I really want a decent green-tailed yellow-billed magpie pic. |
