When I think of the classic LBJ (little brown job) I think of California Towhee. The first time I noticed it - I concluded it was singular because there was absolutely nothing to notice. All brown. Later, I learned to see it's undertail - which has a slight rufous tinge.
Now that I'm learning how to use the Kwik-Camo blind, these somewhat nervous birds will approach close enough for me to see that there's a whole lot more going on. They're not little brown jobs at all, but have a beauty all their own. The power of learned perception! |
