Brandt's Cormorant
Brandt's Cormorant
Phalacrocorax penicillatus
Another trip to Bird Island in Point Lobos State Reserve near Monterey, California. This time the birds are nesting (more nest pix to come), and there are still unattached females.

Lots of fun playing around with the 2x teleconverter on the 500mm lens with manual focus. I'm beginning to enjoy it. And finally, finally, I'm beginning to understand how to expose black and or white birds.

Almost full-frame crop.
