Snowy Egret Egretta thula
The twitchiest egret I've ever seen. Until we realized why it was twitching. It was grabbing these shrimp every few minutes at the outflow of a drainage channel into the San Francisco bay.

My eight year old daughter recently went to a class at "The Marine Sciences Institute". As part of the class they took the kids out on a boat and did some netting in the bay. She came back and told me - "I never realized how much LIFE there is in the bay". Indeed there is.
