Bar-tailed Godwit
Bar-tailed Godwit Limosa lapponica

As of yesterday, the first of the bar-tailed godwits, designated E7, had reached her winter home in New Zealand after competing the longest recorded nonstop migration flight.

A fascinating story of migration. I met this Godwit in Nome. He amazed me at how dextrous his bill was. I had heard that shorebirds had probing and sensitive bills, but watching this male I decided that Bar-tailed godwits had rubber lips. God-speed and a good wind mr. godwit.
