Meadow Voles - It's whats for breakfast!

Blufftop Coastal Park in Half Moon Bay, California is a few precious, well-fought acres sandwiched between the ocean and housing tracts. Congratulations to the citizens of Half-Moon Bay who successfully fought to protect this habitat.

In that little slice of life there's been an explosion of meadow vole's - I even saw one skittering across the road, lemming like. This juvie hunted for all of about ten minutes before it had breakfast - it takes me longer than that just to find the coffee filter.

If you're in the area, and a raptor fan stop by - the light's tough for shooting, but there's buteos, harriers, and lots of kites - some fighting quite intriguingly in the air. And the pink sunrise is about as inspiring as they come.

My thanks to the wonderfully gifted Ron Wolf, who first turned us on to the incredible raptor-fest in Half Moon Bay. Thanks Ron!
