Great Kiskadee Pitangus sulphuratus
The "flight school" I had in Florida courtesy of James Shadle and Jim Neiger has really taught me a lot, as I slowly begin to grasp the basics. Astounding that its taken me 3 years to realize that I can't get a decent flight shot unless I'm at least 1/1000th of a second, and at least at f7.1 or f8. Sometimes, I get a decent flight shot with less than either of those, but that's dumb luck.

Jim told us that most people stop pressing the shutter when the bird takes off (me included). For Jim, he STARTS pressing the shutter at that moment.

Taken at the Martin Ranch/Refuge - a wonderful place to shoot.
