Band-backed Wren Campylorhynchus zonatus
Not many pictures on flickr of this big wren (is that an oxymoron?). Taken at Caracol - an ancient Mayan site with a rich history of being conquered and then reconquering by/of the adjacent states of Tikal and Naranjo. Caracol was one of the Mayan states where the ballcourt winners were sacrificed (not the losers) - I bet Michael Phelps knows how they must have felt. The best part is that its biggest mover and shaker was named Squirrel-Paw. :-)
