Willow Ptarmigan Lagopus lagopus
I will be leading a bird photography tour next year in Nome, Alaska - my most favorite place to shoot American birds. Birds go to Nome to breed. They are in incredible breeding plumage, and they are very accessible. Imagine yellow warblers singing their hearts out at eye-level. Imagine a gyrfalcon nest with two chicks. Imagine breeding puffins less than 100 feet away. Nome is a thoroughly amazing place. There are two one week tours - June 4-12th (including a few days in Anchorage) and June 13-19th. I keep the tours small (under 4) so that we don't scare the birds. There is one opening still available for the 4-12th and two openings for 13-19th. To see what kinds of opportunities you might have view my Alaska Birds Set. These tours help to fund our local Audubon - nonetheless, I am able to do them for considerably less than more commercial offerings. Please email me through flickr if you are interested or have questions.
